Lebrijano III

Bay, 1970

Breeder:  Yaguada Militar

Lebrijano III was a well known Military Stud who stood at their main establishment in Jerez for almost 20 years before being purchased to become the foundation sire of a newly opened breeding farm.

Lebrijano's father was the legendary Agente, regarded by many in Spain to be the prototypical Spanish Stallion.  Agente’s father, (Lebrijano's grandfather), was the famous Maluso.   Maluso and Agente were famous for their forward movement, cadence and impulsion.  They passed this movement on to their offspring.  Lebrijano was a brother to Leviton, Jecomias and Jenson, three of the premier breeding stallions of modern Andalusian history.

Jose Luis Escalera, scion of Spain's most ancient breeding program and famous for his focus on functionality, frequently bred to Lebrijano. The resulting offspring won numerous awards for best movement.  Lebrijano’s descendants have a reputation in Spain as exemplary dressage horses. Alfonso Sanchez of Club del Caballo has based his breeding program on the Lebrijano/Escalera lineage.  Sanchez says that breeding to the Lebrijano/Agente/Maluso line "is a basic and essential ingredient if a skillful and almost safe prescription is desired for obtaining solid horses with excellent aptitudes for dressage."

Lebrijano has a number of famous children:

   -   Rondeno IX (a.k.a., Mango or Mango Rondeno); Bred by Bohorquez; Champion of Spain in 2002; Spanish National Equestrian Team (dressage) in WEG in 2000.

  -   Other well-known Lebrijano sons were Famoso XIII, Macanuo II, and Ingrato VIII.  Solitaria XII, Prometida III and Romera XV were three of Lebrijano’s more exceptional daughters.  These are all Escalera bred horses known for their movement.

Remarkably, Lebrijano’s grandchildren are proving to just as good, or even better than their parents. Consequently, the Lebrijano line is highly valued in Spain and a number of the more progressive, dressage-oriented breeders are basing their breeding on his offspring.

  -   Invasor II - Bred by Domecq;  Two-time Champion of Spain;  Twice represented Spain in Olympic dressage;  Brought home a bronze in 2000 and a silver i

  -   Other significant Lebrijano grandsons are Prometido (Escalera) and Llevant II (Yeguada Can Boada).  Both are now foundation stallions of Club del Caballo.  Faraona LIX (Maldonado) is a Lebrijano granddaughter and a foundation broodmare for Club del Caballo.
